The Prayer for Nations
by Justin Steiner

The inauguration has been over for a while now and already we have seen drastic changes made by our Congress and our new President. I understand that some of you may have voted for Obama; I have a lot of Christian friends who also voted for him. I am not one who prays that Obama fails, because if he did fail as President, our country would be much worse off. Unfortunately, all we can do right now is pray for our nation and its leaders so that God gives them guidance and direction, and also do what we can to publicize the actions of our elected officials.

Up until the inauguration, Israel was pounding away at Hamas. After receiving thousands of missile hits in their country and just simply putting up with it, Israel said that enough was enough! When Israel started its attack, news commentators voiced their lack of support of Israel. Everyday one could pull up a news website and read interviews by people living in Gaza saying that Israelis were barbarians and murderers. Even here in the United States, activists in Florida were recorded on video yelling, “Murderers! You need a big oven…that’s what you need!” Support for Israel is disappearing each year!

What do we take from all of this? There is only one conclusion that I am able to come to. We are drawing closer to when Christ returns! It may be 10 years or it may be in 100, but it is exciting to watch prophecies unfold before our eyes! Before I write any further, I want to make sure that I am clear… I believe that the Word of God is God-breathed. My opinions about this topic could possibly be just coincidences and might not even lead up to Christ’s return. Many other people in the past have believed that Christ would return in their lifetime. Christ’s disciples probably even believed that He would return again while they were living!

Many theologians believe that there are many more prophecies that need to be fulfilled before Christ’s return. One of the main prophecies is found in Ezekiel 38-39. If you aren’t familiar with this passage, I suggest you read it! In these chapters, we learn that Meshech (Moscow), Lybia, Persia (Iran), and Turkey, will form an alliance together and eventually attack Israel. God will come to Israel’s aid and defeat their enemy as all nations stand by and watch!

Because of recent events, we are seeing this alliance developing before our eyes. One example is that Russia is already working with Iran developing their nuclear program. In order for Russia to be able to mobilize from the far North, they will need either the help of the countries surrounding Israel, or just go right through them with military might. There has been one very interesting development just within the last few weeks… Russia is going to build a Navy base in Syria. Check out this news article to read further: http://in.news.yahoo.com/137/20090116/362/twl-russia-plans-navy-bases-in-libya-syr_1.html.

I came across an interesting article on Joel Rosenberg’s weblog. Joel Rosenberg is a fiction and non-fiction writer who is an expert in the Middle East relations. Based on the following article, Iran, Syria, and Turkey have formed an alliance. http://www.memri.org/bin/articles.cgi?Page=countries&Area=iran&ID=IA49009. All of this could be a simple coincidence or it could be the start of a Biblical prophecy being fulfilled.

In addition to what has already been laid out, we have heard all of the anti-Semitic language coming from the Iranian government and other Middle Eastern countries. Osama Bin Laden has even declared war against Israel! In Ezekiel, it seems to be clear that there won’t be any nation that rises up in support for Israel when they are attacked by this alliance. With a new U.S. President now in power, a man who wants to sit down and have a friendly chat with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Iran, Obama needs our prayer for God to give him guidance and wisdom! President Bush was adamant to leave Iran on the Axis of Evil list, while it seems that Obama is eager to take them off. President Bush’s administration was in the works to have a missile defense system installed in Europe to help defend those countries against rogue nations, while Obama wants to stop the missile defense system to appease Russia.

The majority of our past Presidents supported Israel and its status as a free nation. I fear that because of Obama’s liberal and socialist views, Israel will lose the U.S. support under this administration. We also need to pray for Israel and for the safety of its people! I understand that some believe that Israel might be at fault for some of the disruptions in the Middle East, but that gives us all the more reason to pray for Israel and its leaders. Ultimately, God will come to the defense of Israel, destroy its enemies, and protect His people.

On the Government and Faith Comedy Club

I really don't mean to write about politics this much, but recently... there has been SO much material out there.... I feel like how a comedian probably does when they find jokes in everything but for me, it is minus the humor. =)

Obama is really cracking me up recently and here is why... His comments are absolutely ridiculous!

Recently, "Barack Obama has said he considered joining the United States military when he left school but decided not to because the Vietnam war was over and "we weren't engaged in an active military conflict at that point"." Ummm... Of course you did Obama! How "noble" of you to at least consider it. I am sure that makes him feel like he was "almost" a war hero doesn't it? Granted, this was in answer to a direct question about if he thought about it, but his reasoning that he didn't do it was because we weren't engaged in a conflict seems quite absurd.

But then here is Barack on tax cuts, "Democrat Barack Obama says he would delay rescinding President Bush's tax cuts on wealthy Americans if he becomes the next president and the economy is in a recession, suggesting such an increase would further hurt the economy." -According to Myway.com... Whoa..Whoa..Whoa... Wait a minute! I thought that the tax cuts didn't help the economy? Isn't that what was told to me during the DNC? So is Obama saying that the tax cuts.....actually worked? Now there is a shocker!!

In an interview on Sunday, Obama was asked about his answer that it was above his pay grade on thinking whether or not life begins at conception was too "flip"... Here is his answer, "Probably. ...What I intended to say is that, as a Christian, I have a lot of humility about understanding when does the soul enter into ... It's a pretty tough question. And so, all I meant to communicate was that I don't presume to be able to answer these kinds of theological questions." Let's back up for a second, he said, "I have a lot of humility about understanding when does the soul enter into..." I hope you caught that he couldn't even finish his thought. Into what Obama? "enter into..." He then says that "I don't presume to be able to answer these kinds of theological question." On the contrary Barack (I wish I could really tell him this face to face).. You are answering that question by saying that abortion is alright. You are answering that question by supporting partial-birth abortion!

Obama's partner, Biden said this, "I'm prepared as a matter of faith to accept that life begins at the moment of conception. But that is my judgment, for me to impose that judgment on everyone else who is equally and maybe even more devout than I am seems to me is inappropriate in a pluralistic society." This is my response, "...................." I am totally speechless! I believe that murder is wrong, because that is my judgment. But from Biden's statement, I am wrong to impose my judgment that murder is wrong on everyone else because it is inappropriate to do so.

Then there is my all-time weekend favorite! Obama said, "Let's not play games," he said. "What I was suggesting -- you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you're absolutely right that that has not come." Did you catch that? "my Muslim faith." Yes, I know that was a slip of the tongue, but that, to me, is absolutely hilarious! You have to feel sorry for the man don't you? Well... maybe not!
